    Northshore spine surgeon, Dr. K. Samer Shamieh, MD, grew up in Louisiana. Dr. Shamieh played tennis for the nationally top-ranked LSU Tigers. He received his medical degree and completed his Orthopaedic residency from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. “Fellowship Trained” means Dr. Shamieh completed a Neurosurgical/Orthopaedic Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery training program at The Spine Institute of Arizona under the guidance of Edward J. Dohring, MD. Dr. Shamieh applies a comprehensive evaluation and treatment process designed to help his patients achieve active, pain-free lifestyles. Dr. Shamieh’s multidisciplinary approach began here, as he was mentored by Dr. Anil Nanda (Neurosurgery), Dr. Pierce Nunley and Dr. Richard McCall (Orthopaedic Surgeons). He then completed a Neurosurgical/Orthopaedic Minimally Invasive Spine fellowship at the Spine Institute of Arizona. Dr. Edward J. Dohring, founder and medical director, has been a leading innovator of spinal devices and minimally invasive techniques that have been adopted all around the world. Dr. James attended Louisiana State University before receiving a bachelor’s degree in science from Our Lady of the Lake College. During medical school at Louisiana State Health Sciences Center, Dr. James developed an interest in degenerative and traumatic musculoskeletal disease. He went on to focus on this during his training in Orthopaedic Surgery at Louisiana State Health Sciences Center, and during his residency gained further experience in treating these ailments with a particular interest in Spine Surgery.     Northshore neurosurgeon, Dr. Justin L. Owen knew he wanted to be a doctor since he was a young boy growing up in Arkansas. He went on to study at Hendrix College, known for its strong medical school acceptance rate. He later went to medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences before heading down to New Orleans for seven years of training at the LSU Health Sciences Center. Dr. Owen describes himself as a perfectionist. “I want great outcomes for each of my patients just as I would for my own family.
